The Mission of CATN is to develop and promote environment friendly and socio-economically viable rural development approach and technologies to match with society, geography and environment and provide social and consultant services.

The Objectives

The main objective is to carry out socio-economic and techno-economic research on sustainable rural development activities including water supply, sanitation and hygiene, renewable energy, socio-economic studies, livelihoods, environment, climate change, low cost housing, database management and GIS mapping sectors.

CATN will carry out following activities to achieve its objectives:

  • Carryout research, development and promotion of technologies amenable to the geo-physical, and socio-economic life of rural communities
  • Provide social services (non-profit)
  • Provide consulting expert services

Benefits of development approach be it social or economical or technical can be harnessed by many if it rests on local knowledge, local needs and socio-economic life of people. Harmonious marriage of “tacit knowledge” – associated with socio-economic situation, geographical situation, human skills and experience, and “codified knowledge”- systematized in blue prints. Evidences of “best practice” provide the guide that development approach should be geared “how to evolve its impact” for better economic performance of large section of population.
